Perkins Field Rededication

Lions Club President Ginny Pidala, Dan Dillon, and Haldane Schools Superintendent Dr. Phil Benante (L-R) threw out the first pitches at a ceremony rededicating Perkins Field. Dan Dillon is one of the first Philipstown Little Leaguers, which was chartered in 1953. His dad, a co-founder of the PLL and known as the "Father of Philipstown Little League," led a community effort to build the original Perkins Field. The field was the longtime home to the Philipstown Little League, but grew idle as a baseball field, when the league moved its games to the North Highland Fire District fields. The growth in the number of players in teams in recent years had necessitated additional field space and in March 2021, a group of parent volunteers under the direction of PLL trustee Sal Pidala, raked fresh clay into the infield. The lower Perkins Field now hosts baseball and softball games. Philipstown Little League softball teams share the upper Perkins field with the Haldane softball programs.
