Little League Remains Closed

Earlier today, an auto generated email went out to Philipstown Little League families reminding everyone that this Saturday is Opening Day. Boy, I wish that were true. Our Little League season will remain suspended until further notice. We are using the same guidance that our neighborhood schools are getting from local and state health officials. As long as our schools remain closed, so will we. The Little Leagues in our region are discussing a season that begins late spring or early summer, once we are cleared to play.

In the meantime, let's continue to take care of our friends, families, and neighbors. There are a lot of inspired community efforts out there and we are happy to promote them on our league website. Here's one -- the Mask Makers Guild. This homespun organization has rallied hundreds of volunteers and donors to make masks for first responders in need of personal protective gear. Please consider volunteering your time and talent or making a donation to their Go Fund Me.

Finally, Darrin Santos, one of our former Philipstown Little League coaches, passed away earlier this month. He died from Covid-19, but that's not the story. The story is about how he and his family gave so much to this community and how the community in turn delivered right back. Our love and deepest sympathies to the Santos family. A Go Fund Me Page has been set up on their behalf and in his honor. For everyone else in our Little League family, we hope there's only healthy and happy days ahead. If there is anything the League can do to support you and your family, please don't hesitate to contact us.
