GOAL: Provide recommendations for youth Baseball/Softball with regard to practice and competition, keeping in mind the health and safety of our youth athletes, coaches, parents/caregivers and spectators.
DISCLAIMER: Playing sports with and against other individuals, in any capacity during this time, holds an inherent risk of a child or teenager becoming infected and potentially infecting other individuals, such as their household members. Please consider this risk when allowing your child or teenager to participate in organized sports.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES: The information regarding SARS-CoV-2, the virus causing the COVID-19 illness, is changing rapidly nationally and in our community. These recommendations will be reviewed and updated based on new scientific information and local information including COVID-19 testing capacity and state and local health department recommendations.
KEY STRATEGIES INCLUDE: Health assessments, social distancing, face coverings, effective hand hygiene, no-touch policy, and removal of shared equipment. The recommendations shown on the following pages are meant as general guidelines, in the context of federal, state, and local county recommendations. All federal, state, and local health department orders and recommendations as related to sports must be followed.
Due to the decrease of COVID cases within our community we have made the following modifications to the Philipstown Little League (PLL) Return to Play guidelines:
Updated Guidelines:
1.) Masks are no longer mandatory and are now optional for all players, coaches, umpires and spectators at all PLL events.
2.) There are no longer any spectator limits for home or away teams.
3.) Umpires can now call the game from behind home plate.
Unchanged Guidelines:
1.) If you or a member of your household are sick, please stay home.
2.) If you or a member of your household becomes sick or begins experiencing symptoms of COVID, or enters a mandatory quarantine notify PLL immediately.
3.) Equipment should not be shared between players.
Additional Points of Emphasis:
1.) Return to Play guidelines are aligned with other community organizations as well as neighboring leagues.
2.) PLL teams that are visiting another league are subject to the home team's guidelines which may be different.
3.) As the situation is fluid, these guidelines will be reviewed and updated as needed over the season.
